Perricone MD ‘Blue Plasma’

Perricone MD 'Blue Plasma' on Belle Belle Beauty

Regular readers, you already know I am an exfoliation junkie. Particularly with my recent peels, I’ve had a great need to slough off dead skin. And I’ve found that my skin looks more even and radiant with regular exfoliation. While my skin doesn’t love the more aggressive types of at home peels this time of year, I do need some sort of resurfacing. And what could be better than an easy, no-rinse formula?

Blue Plasma is a non-acidic peel that you can use either in the AM or PM under other skin care products. Perricone MD uses engineering to bottle three active process that reveals glowy, bright skin. Blue Plasma can also plump fine lines. It works with these five unique ingredients:

  • Salmon Egg Enzyme targets only dead skin cells
  • L-Carnitine works to speed cell turnover and hydrate skin
  • Ptersostilbene brightens with anti-oxidants
  • Honokiol Magnolol, an extract of magnolia bark, soothes skin
  • Copper (one of my favorite ingredients) repairs skin

I’ve been applying first thing after my morning shower and toner. I let it absorb and then follow with this SPF. Almost magically, I haven’t experienced an ounce of irritation or redness. I can basically look at my skin wrong and see some form of redness so I can vouch for its gentleness. I do see a plumper, radiant finish, although I don’t think on its own it is doing a ton for my hyper-pigmentation. I love the boost in exfoliation without the irritation or scrubbing. This is the ticket for those who want an easy, gentle path to cell turnover and a general improvement in “brightness” combined with a general skin care boost of anti-oxidants and copper.

I received many comments/questions about the smell of Blue Plasma. I honestly can not detect any “fishy” or unpleasant scent in my formula. Perricone MD does let their customers know that ingredients are subject to change. My only guess is that earlier formulations of Blue Plasma contained something that lent to a different smell.
