Holiday Eye Routine on Belle Belle Beauty

There has been lots of talk over here on Belle Belle Beauty about a bold red lip for the holidays. While I am learning to embrace this trend, more often than not, you’ll find me with lined eyes and a neutral lip gloss. Today, I am going to give you the low down on my favorite eye routine.

Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Hypercolor’ Brow Gel & Mascara

Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Hypercolor' Brow Gel & Mascara // Belle Belle Beauty

Colored mascaras are everywhere for summer. But these aren’t just another variation – these guys from Anastasia are bold. If you want color to be noticed, Hypercolor is your cup of tea. Anastasia Beverly Hills  ‘Hypercolor’ Brow Gel & Mascara comes in three shades: Electric Blue, Ultra Violet and In The Pink.

My good friend and I wore these out for brunch last weekend – she chose pink, I wore blue. And I can’t tell you how much fun we had with the surprising use of color. I loved how the blue accentuated the green in my eyes. And her light green eyes popped even more with a touch of pink.

Originally designed for brows, I actually prefer it as a curling mascara. I don’t think my group of friends is quite ready for purple eye brows. That’s not to say I don’t think it could potentially look really cool.

The intensely pigmented formula dries quickly. As a second step, use the Mini Lash Genius Clear Waterproof Topcoat to instantly set and waterproof your lashes. While it was still on my lashes the next day (I didn’t use eye makeup remover – just washed my face), the pigment isn’t hard to remove.

Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Hypercolor’ Brow & Hair Powder

Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Hypercolor' Brow & Hair Powder // Belle Belle Beauty

I’ve been eying the bold streaks on the runways the past couple of seasons. I was particularly swooning over Peter Som’s multicolored neon accents (above) in his Spring 2013 show last month. The problem: my hair is dark dark brown. I just figured nothing would show up on my strands and resigned myself to boring single tone hair.

Well, I was wrong. And I’m okay with that. Because I’ve been playing with Anastasia Beverly Hills Hypercolor Brow and Hair Powder and am happy to report it looks just as vibrant on my dark locks! Below, I am wearing Electric Blue, Ultra Violet and In The Pink. I was so thrilled that the pigment-rich oxides were robust enough for dark hair.

The formula is designed for both hair and eyebrows. You can use a brush, but I prefered holding a small peice of hair inbetween my finger and the pot and sliding the strands you want to color in between. Then, flip sides. Silicone makes the powder ultra smooth and soft so it slides on but also stays in place. I haven’t tried it yet, but word is this can also be used as eyeliner. How fun is that?

While these swatches above were on my regular styled hair, it is recommended you set with hair spray or brow gel. The color will rinse out in one to two washes. Available at Nordstrom and Ulta.

Anastasia Brow Wiz

Anastasia Brow Wiz // Belle Belle Beauty

I was sold for a long time on this brow product. And I loved it… I really did. But so many of my fellow bloggers were talking about Anastasia Brow Wiz. I just had to pick one up and see what the fuss was about.

Clearly, I was missing out. This thin little pencil wormed its way into my heart. The ultra-slim design allows for sharp brush strokes, mimicking the actual look of a brow hairs. The precise end also allows for a polished and detailed look.

Medium Ash is a magic shade for me. Often, we are tempted to go darker than our actual shade. But Medium Ash is light enough to look natural, but dark enough to fill in sparse areas. (Brow Wiz also comes in Brunette, Ebony, Ash Blond and Caramel.)

I use short strokes to fill in sparse areas and give volume to my thinning outer corners. Then use the attached brow brush to blend for a natural look. Honestly, I can’t imagine not having this little guy on my vanity in the future – it is that good.

Sophie from Angel Food Style

Angel Food Style on Belle Belle Beauty One

This past September, I met Sophie of Angle Food Style at New York Fashion Week and have been hooked on her fashion blog ever since. I love her fresh, classic and Southern California looks that always are so polished. I loved visiting Los Angeles when I lived in the Bay Area and her gorgous photos take me right back there. Doesn’t hurt that she is one of the most genuine and nicest women I have met in the blogging world. And loves Maltese puppies as much as I do (that is a saying A LOT).

Besides a perfectly polished outfit, I noticed Sophie’s makeup always looked natural and finished without being overdone…(not to mention her “hard to ignore” natural beauty). With our endless chats on Twitter and Instagram, I knew she was a girl after my own heart – a true beauty junkie. If we meet up again, you will find us in Sephora undoubtedly.

So… I am so excited to have her on Belle Belle today to talk about her day-to-day look with a couple extra touches to make it holiday-ready. This everyday face has a “bit more oomph than the summer-appropriate mascara/bronzer/lip gloss situation”.

Here are the products Sophie is wearing:

  1. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 5.25 (can’t get enough)
  2. Nars Bronzer in Laguna under cheekbones, on temples, chin
  3. Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in shade 10 “beige” on apples of cheeks
  4. Giorgio Armani Eye Quad in Bourdoir– I mixed the 4 nude shades together and concentrated the darkest shade in the outer corner
  5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Liner in Black on inside bottom waterline, Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Liner to line eyelids (I would die without this liquid liner- use it everyday)
  6. Bare Escentuals Buxom Mascara in black
  7. Anastasia Beverly Hills “Brow Wiz” pencil in Ash Blonde
  8. Nars lip gloss in “sweet revenge”– the perfect nude/pink every day shade

Like me, Sophie is a huge Armani fan. Their foundation, we both agree, is a best of breed. Sophie points out their high quality, “especially in the shadows – the pigments are so luxe and last all day”. Anastasia is a great resource for brow tools – I love her clear brow gel. And I have a Sephora package en route with NARS Laguna – can’t wait to try one of her “staples”.

Spring Trends for Daughter-in-Law Diaries

I am so excited to be guest posting over on Daughter-in-Law Diaries today! Creator, Ali Katz, launched her site as a forum and resource for ladies who are adjusting to their new roles as daughter-in-laws. What a cool idea! She is receiving some phenomenal press – Ali is definitely going places. Head over and check out the new site – I am not even married, and love it 🙂 And here is a sneak peek of the post. Congrats, Ali!

How to incorporate my favorite spring trends into your beauty routine:

Bold Brows

via BellaSugar

This Spring, we will see loads of bold prints and colors appear in our closet. To compliment the adventurous look, brows will be stronger and fuller. A prominent brow actually better frames the face. On it’s own, a filled-in, groomed brow can finish the face just as much as a swipe of lipgloss.

To get the look, fill in your brows with Le Metier de Beaute Brow Bound Eyebrow Pencil. It is dual ended with a brush at one end. Use this to comb out the brow hairs first. Then use it after to blend the gel-like formula. Then, to hold the brows in place, comb through Anastasia Brow Gel in Clear.

Bronzed Glow

The runway celebrated golden skin that looks just sun-kissed. Instead of risking sun damage, wrinkles and skin cancer, use one of the new bronzing palettes. Use a large brush to lightly dust below the cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, along the hairline and on your neck. Try Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting Season to Season Bronzer or Guerlain ‘Terracotta – Four Seasons’ Bronzer. Then add a little Benefit Sunbeam on your cheekbones and brow bone.

Bright Nails

via Belle Belle Beauty

Work those neons and pastels into your nail wardrobe as well. Bring out your inner child and try blues, greens, fuschia and nail art. I love Essie polishes because they are high quality, but at a low commitment cost. And they always have a range of on-trend colors. Their new Resort collection features the bold “Sure Shot” and perfect, purple pastel “She’s Picture Perfect”.
