Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner

I just returned from very fun visit to see my mom in sunny Florida. It was so nice to thaw out and be outside. Back to the grind now in Tulsa where it is positively freezing, although we escaped the snow dump that has affected to many this week.

I managed to raid my mom’s makeup drawer during my visit which always yields some fun discoveries. This time, my find was from one of her favorite brands, Marc Jacobs. This tiny little eyeliner packs a punch and has replaced my previous favorite.

The ultra-skinny pencil has a two millimeter tip that is unbreakable. The gel formula glides on effortlessly. The small size allows for precise application which is ideal for my preferred tightline look. And the waterproof formula lasts on the waterline throughout the day. For extra drama, I also work the pencil in between my lashes for a full lash effect.

I have been using Blacquer, a deep, inky Black. But I cannot wait to pick up Truffled (caramel brown) and Marine (dark blue).

This product is cruelty-free. Available at Sephora and Neiman Marcus.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

On a recently mentioned trip to Sephora in San Francisco, I traded in a long time favorite eyeliner for a new one. I wasn’t sure if it could outdo my beloved Trish McEvoy, but it just plain blew it out of the water. I am a Kat Von D Tattoo Liner devotee from here on!

This waterproof liquid liner comes in pen form with a well-designed brush for great ease of application. It is super precise and fine – a reason I love it as I prefer a very tight and thin line. The ink is super pigmented and has not dried out one bit since I purchased three weeks ago. I have been wearing Trooper which is a deep, true black. Most impressive is the formula’s ability to last all day long without cracking, fading or running.

The salesperson who recommended it to me had a dramatic cat eye that looked fabulous so I can see how with more pressure this could make for a beautiful, thicker line. I like a very subtle defining line and can achieve this by laying the tip right by the lash line from the inner to outer corner.

And as a cruelty-free advocate, I love that Tattoo Liner is completely free of animal-derived ingredients and is not tested on animals. Available at Sephora.

My Two Favorite Eye Makeup Products

Yesterday, I received a restock of my favorite eye makeup products – a liner and mascara. It dawned on me that I hadn’t shared them here in a while (or together). So when you find a perfect “recipe” for easy and defined, everyday eyes, it needs to be shared!

I fell hard for Kevyn Aucoin Beauty ‘The Volume’ Mascara but then got distracted trying out other brands. After a series of disappointment (and even several weeks skipping mascara all together) I remembered my old favorite. I was so sick of fallout and this is the only one that stays on all day. This smaller brush is nimble and works well getting volume and pigment on all lashes.

I’ve been hanging on to the last bit of my Trish McEvoy Lash Enhancing Liquid Liner Pen – it was embarrassingly old. But I still loved it. Imagine how stoked I was when I used my fresh one this morning and the pigment and ink were brighter and bolder with my trusty formula. (note to self: replace old products more frequently!) Add in that the formula can improve the length and fullness of lashes in only 15 days, and I call that a dream eyeliner.

Holiday Gifting – bareMinerals Main Attraction

Happy Cyber Monday – hope you all are having fun getting your shop on. Some amazing deals I posted on Friday are still going on so make sure to check out this post before you hit “BUY”. Speaking of holiday shopping, I have another gift idea to share with you today:

I continue to be blown away when it comes to the value in bareMinerals gift sets. They are truly an awesome deal – flawless in delivery of quality products and formulas that are certainly crowd-pleasers. It can be tricky buying makeup for someone else, but their concoctions seem to always suit a wide range of complexions and skin types.

This technically is a set to create a “screen siren look” but I find the contents are more like a fabulous, neutral everyday look. The eye shadows are a shimmery light pinky gold and deeper chocolate. I like wearing the lighter Matinee all over lids for a quick and easy look. The set instructs Opening Night, the darker brown, in the crease and along the lower lash line but it is a little dramatic for me. I tend to limit just a wash of Opening Night in the center of my lids.

The Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner in Absolute Black is an all-day workhorse. I only really wear black eyeliner but this one isn’t so intense and I like the less inky look for daytime. And a favorite is always the Lash Domination 10-in-one Volumizing mascara with its wacky brush and conditioning formula.

Typically, I am not a huge blush fan but Flair is fairly sheer and can be built into a deeper shade. On me, it is a true winter glow.  Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Make Your Move might just be the nude lipstick I have forever been searching for. I know nude lipstick is super personal, but if you have light-to-medium skin tone like me, this might just be your golden ticket.

Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Leading Lady is also a nude shade but with a punch of shimmer. I get fairly good staying power and hydration from this formula. But my favorite part is the minty tingle.

Major bonus points for a super high-quality tapered brush included. bareMinerals brushes are all I use any more for bronzer and blush – they just seem to have gotten it spot on.

All in all, this set has wearable, great shades and formulas that I know I treasure as staples of my makeup drawer. For the beauty buff on your list, you can’t go wrong with bareMinerals. Available at Sephora.

Trish McEvoy Lash Enhancing Liquid Liner Pen

Trish McEvoy Lash Enhancing Liquid Liner Pen on Belle Belle Beauty

A friend posted an SOS this AM on Facebook: “What is your favorite eyeliner?” I didn’t have to think too long before I gave my resounding answer. I have been testing out Trish McEvoy Lash Enhancing Liquid Liner Pen and I can safely call it my current favorite.

Now first before I go on… the price. This is a bit of a doozy at $48. But I beg you to think of this more as a skin care product that doubles as makeup. And, to me, that makes the price more palpable.

The precision of the pen is nimble enough for a fine line. But even a thicker, “cat eye” look is achievable. The pigment is such that I don’t get any of that greyness that can be found so often in liquid liners.

The real highlight is the formula’s lash building properties. The conditioning action can lead to fullness and additional length in just 15 days. I have been using the liner for a couple weeks and have noticed a more defined look to my lashes even when I am not wearing the liner.

And when I do wear the liner… I get a full day of pigment which is something I haven’t found with other liquid pens. The formula is water-resistant so plan on using eye makeup remover (I like this one).

For the past several years, I have been lining my eyes with a pencil, focusing on definition with pigment along the waterline. I guess you could call it my signature look. But then the unthinkable happened… my favorite liner was discontinued (Note: the newer version is here – while I like it, it just isn’t the same.)

So I knew it was time to shake up my routine. As fate would have it, a liquid liner landed on my desk and it was just the push I needed to change up formulas. mark. On the Edge Hook Up Liquid Eyeliner made me a convert.

The pigment is balanced – drying quickly but allowing for touch ups. The included brush is nimble – I am able to draw both an ultra-fine line and also something thicker and more dramatic.

Rather than pungent black, I have been wearing Cleo which seems like it has a little blue and brown to temper the shade. I swipe along my lashes and allow to dry for a couple minutes. And this stuff doesn’t budge all day long! And you can’t beat the price at ten bucks.
