Summer Favorites From Opinion Nothing

Summer Favorites From Opinion Nothing // Belle Belle Beauty

What better way to round out my week of guest posts than the fabulous JM from OpinionNothing.com. This girl has style not to mention is always up on what’s new in beauty living in the fabulous New York City. I asked her to share some of her favorites to beat the crazy heat this summer in the Big Apple:

When temperatures soar and humidity caps off at 100%, my favorite summer beauty products rise to the occasion. Whether I’m headed to the office or out to brunch with my girlfriends, these warm weather essentials keep me looking my best!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder ($45) – This magic face powder comes in six shades and uses photoluminescent technology to soften light as it reflects off the skin. I like using Dim Light with a big, fluffy brush to set my foundation. It’s not a traditional mattifying powder, but I don’t mind a little bit of healthy shine.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation with SPF 15 ($45)  – I love Vitalumiere Aqua because it gives medium, buildable coverage yet still feels light like a tinted moisturizer. I can apply it with my fingers or an array of foundation brushes and my dry-to-combination skin looks great every time. BONUS: travel-friendly packaging and a luxurious scent.

NARS single eyeshadow in New York ($24) – Red eyeshadow is difficult to wear without looking like you have pinkeye, but New York is rich enough to pull off. It’s perfect for adding dimension to a neutral, summer-appropriate smoky eye or simply smudged along the lash line for a grungy pop of color. It pains me to say that New York is no longer available as a single eyeshadow, but you can still find it in the splurge-worthy NARS Loves New York palette.

Lipstick Queen in Hello Sailor ($25) – My number one lipstick pick for summer! Hello Sailor looks bright blue in the bullet, but the sheer, moisturizing formula works with natural lip color to create a shade of berry unique to every wearer. It makes teeth look whiter too! Literally my lips, but better.

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Hyde Park ($25) –  Red lipstick instantly perks up a simple look, but not when it’s melting off your face, or worse, in your purse. The latest Stalin Lip Pencils from NARS pass the test in both categories and Hyde Park, a gorgeous rosy red, is perfect for day or night.

Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover ($4.59) – No one appreciates a good at-home manicure like I do and step one is using the right tools. Resist the urge to use cuticle scissors. After five minutes wearing the gel, my cuticles are soft and trim. A quick wash with some soap and my nails are ready for bright colors!

Clean & Clear Blackhead Eraser Cleansing Mask ($5.49) – Before we go crazy thinking our pores are filled with dirt, let’s remind ourselves that blackheads are most often caused by oxidized oils, not filth. This cleansing mask contains both silica and salicylic acid to remove excess oils, leaving skin clean and blackhead-free in between facials. I like to apply it with a synthetic flat foundation brush for a spa-like feel at home.

I leave for summer vacation in less than two weeks (bonjour, Paris!) and you can bet I’m making room in my carry-on for everything on this list. With great skin, a perfect pout, and groomed nails, I’m ready to beat the heat on both sides of the Atlantic.

Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen Set

Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen Set on Belle Belle Beauty

I’m feeling pretty festive this year – my tree is trimmed and decorations abound in my home. The resounding theme is that magical, fluttering shimmer that screams holiday. Legendary lipstick maven, Poppy King feels the same way. “This season I was so inspired by the magical glamour and exuberance of the dance floor! When I think dance floor, I think Studio 54” says Poppy. I’m not much of a dancer, but I like the way she thinks.

Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen Set Laying Down on Belle Belle Beauty

The Dancing Queen Set is perfect for the holiday season with her exclusive ‘sheer matte shimmer’ formula. The texture and look is balanced and translucent, reflecting one of fashion’s biggest trends: iridescence. The formula is hydrating and comfortable to wear. And no need for precision – I apply these just like a balm.

Set includes:

  • CHA CHA shimmering, sheer wine
  • ELECTRIC SLIDE shimmering, deep rose
  • THE HUSTLE shimmering nude

While they are all sheer, there is something perfectly nude and understated festive about The Hustle. Cha Cha and Electric Slide just give a wash of color. I’d say this would make a great gift, but you’ll want this for yourself to wear to all your holiday festivities.

A Rosy Pout for Spring

There is something cheerful about rosy lips in the spring. Anything from a wash of color to a bold pink, paired with a flirty dress and you are all set. My favorites to achieve the look are:

Korres Lip Butter in Quince (very sheer)

This hydrating balm jut provides a wash of color, but it is makes your lips shiny and healthy. The butters are made with natural oils and extracts. Shea butter and rice wax provide hydration.

Lipstick Queen Jean Queen Lipstick  (sheer)

This just has slightly more color to it and also is super hydrating. If you don’t like pot format of the Korres, this is a great alternative. It gives a rose stain with literally zero dryness.

Cle de Peau Beaute Enriched Lip Luminizer in 213 (slightly sheer)

This is silky, slippery skin care for your lips. The color literally melts on. It is still fairly sheer but you are getting a good wash of color. I love how healthy this lush balm makes my lips feel. It is sold as a holder and refill.  The swatch is from Nordstrom.

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil (opaque)

I never knew a pencil could be so buttery and soft. This literally translates into a gloss, but packs a punch of color. This is for those who want a true, hot pink rose on their lips. It still is moisturizing with ingredients like vitamin E, hyaluronic spheres, and phytosterol esthers.

As a side note, check out my interview on Priscilla Francine Makeup! So excited to be featured by this artist based in my former “home city”, San Francisco.

Lipstick Queen Medieval-Tinted Treatment

Ever crave just a pinch of color while healing chapped lips and improving the health of your pucker? Yeah, me too.  That’s is why I love Medieval-Tinted Treatment.  The woman behind the brand has been magnificently successful lately.  J. Crew and Kate Spade took notice of her fabulous products and have recently launched collaborations.

The treatment is inspired by customs from the Medieval times when full coverage lipstick was considered a sin.  Lipstick Queen manages to achieve that stained look with an amazing amount of moisture.  It is a very subtle shade of pink that just hints at color.  There is no need for liner, precise application or even a mirror.  And the Vitamin E in the treatment makes it a virtual double for lip balm.

The J. Crew collection is sold out for now, but get the original on QVC.
