H2O Plus Spa Sea Lotus Collection

H2O Plus Spa Sea Lotus Collection // Belle Belle Beauty

In an effort to save some pennies, I’ve been skipping on massages and pedicures in favorite of at-home treatments. I actually like the solitude and relaxation when I turn my own bathroom into a mini-spa. At the top of my list is a treatment that sloughs off dull, summer debris and infuses skin with nourishment and marine botanicals. Just use all three of the H2O Plus Revitalizing Sea Lotus products together for a luxe effect right in your home.

H2O Plus Spa Sea Lotus Skin Smoother uses sea salt as a gentle exfoliator. Sea sourced water lotus and bamboo extract work to improve the look of skin while sweet almond and macadamia nut oils nourish and moisturize. The same botanicals packed with vitamins and minerals are infused in the H2O Plus Spa Sea Lotus Body Wash. Mineral-rich brown and red algae blend with aloe and vitamin E to soothe and nourish the skin. Last but certainly not least, slather on H2O Plus Spa Sea Lotus Body Lotion, which is surprisingly light. Vitamin E and Provitamin B5 soothe and revitalize. And moisturizers including mango and cocoa butters are quickly absorbed, leaving soft and radiant skin. Skin is left with an aquatic floral scent that is revitalizing, yet subtle.

Body Care For Fall

Body Care For Fall // Belle Belle Beauty

I love transitions between seasons. Sifting through makeup, fashion and fragrances, I’ve been rotating in more fall-friendly shades, textures and notes. My fruity perfume was temporarily retired while I returned to my beloved NEST Fragrances Midnight Fleur (and new White Sandlewood – more on that next week!). Sweaters are pulled down from the top shelf. And deeper, richer hues adorn my eyes and lips.

But routines don’t stop changing there. Taking care of your body, skin and health also requires some adjustment. Especially if you live in a part of the country that gets über dry. Read on for my top five body care items for the fall:

The newest scent from Bliss is ‘Grapefruit + Aloe’ which might sound more like Spring, but it is putting a pep in my step. Bliss ‘Grapefruit + Aloe’ Body Butter soothes my easily irritated skin and this long time favorite formula has no greasy feel. It also comes in a body wash and bubble bath.

Caudalie stole my heart when they came out with Divine Oil. The spray body oil has the best scent and is so nourishing for my skin. Now they really outdid themselves with Divine Legs, a perfectly bronze-y tinted lotion that works to improve the look of your legs (or arms or decolletage). Skip the hassle of self-tanner and slather on notes of grapefruit, rose, pink pepper, vanilla, cedar, and white musk.

Tom Ford Black Orchid Hydrating Emulsion is the ultimate in luxe body care. His fragrances are so perfectly unisex and those masculine notes fit with the changing season. This satin-like hydrating treatment has woodsy, spicy and floral notes.

You know me… I can’t resist a good body oil (see above). And Clarins ‘Tonic’ Body Treatment Oil goes above and beyond. This formula works to firm skin and can prevent pregnancy or weight loss related stretch marks. And you can’t beat the scent thanks to natural plant extracts and aromatic essential oils.

And I know I’ve mentioned it before, but this self-tanner takes the cake if you want to prolong that summer glow. Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse is super long-lasting, has great color and is odorless. I like applying with a mitt using Medium, but it is also available in Dark. Bonus for a gluten, cruelty, and oil free formula.

Divine Caudalie and NYC Vinexpert Celebration Event

Divine Caudalie and NYC Vinexpert Celebration Event // Belle Belle Beauty

I wasn’t sure Caudalie could impress me more after I fell hard for their Divine Oil. But they recently blew me away with a whole collection of goodies based on the Divine Oil. First up, a little recap on the body oil I continue to reach for after all these months:

Caudalie Divine Oil:

This stuff smells most like my beloved Tocca and its spray dispenser makes it easy to measure out reasonable doses. The vegetable oil blend is quite the multi-tasker, perfect for in the bath, right out of the shower, on hair or even nails. The fragrance Moroccan rose, Bulgarian rose, grapefruit, pink pepper, cedar, vanilla and white musk can also be a treat during a massage.

Caudalie Divine Scrub:

With the same lovely scent, this scrub uses natural plant oils and brown sugar for a gentle exfoliation. I get a little foaming action – which I love. Not only does it leave a little fragrance, but my skin is insanely soft thanks to the oils. Prefect prep for my Divine Oil addiction.

Caudalie Divine Legs:

And the real gem of the collection. I didn’t think anything could make me drool more than the Divine Oil, but this new cult classic was worth the effort to track down. It has been selling out like crazy. I’m already hooked as my summer glow is fading. This isn’t a self tanner but gives the perfect instant touch of sun. It isn’t terribly tinted, making it almost universal. It also acts as a great lotion. And the bronze finish is instantly slimming. This is definitely a fall must have for me.

Caudalie Vinexpert Celebration NYC // Belle Belle Beauty

And for you lucky little devils that live in New York City… You must know about a celebration at the Caudalie boutiques coming up. The festivities are in honor of the vine harvest and Caudalie’s newly reformulated Vinexpert line with Resveratrol. Enjoy instant-lift mini facials, French cheese and Grand Cru sips. There is a $25 reservation fee that can be used as store credit at the party. May I suggest something from the Divine Collection?! Details:

Brand Spotlight: YON-KA Skin Care

Brand Spotlight: YON-KA Skin Care // Belle Belle Beauty

Yon-Ka is one of those brands I had seen and respected from afar. But I have never really had a chance to dive into their world. After learning about the brand and trying out some of their products, I have become a tried and true fan. The focus on aromatherapy and beautiful packaging make these workhorses and joy to use. The heavy glass bottles are truly luxe and all the dispensers are flawless. But first, a little about the brand.

Laboratories Multaler was founded in 1954 by pioneers in aromatherapy, Cécile, Ernst and Charles Muhlethaler. They focused on botanicals and essential oils and were able to achieve a breakthrough with the discover of “Quintessence” a unique combination of 5 essential oils from the Mediterranean which became the cornerstone of their future skin care line.

They continue their research, blending oils and plants to find other synergies and skin care breakthroughs. Around 1967, the brand took on its mysterious and symbolic name, YON-KA.

Françoise Muhlethaler, a biochemist, and Catherine Muhlethaler, an aesthetician, daughters and nieces of the founders take over leadership of the company in 1968. Under their reign, YON-KA is grows commercially and enters the USA in 1987 and UK and Switzerland in 2000. The new factory is in a filtered air environment with the highest manufacturing standards. Teams of pharmacists, chemist engineers, biologists, bacteriologists, aestheticians work in the Paris campus. Today, YON-KA products can be found in 50 countries and 5000 resorts and spas. Below is l’eSPAce YON-KA, the flagship spa in the heart of Paris.

Brand Spotlight: YON-KA Skin Care // Belle Belle Beauty

So, now that we know a little bit about this established and classic skin care company, I’ll share with you a bit about the products I’ve been trying out.

Lotion YON-KA for normal to oily skin sounds like something I wouldn’t like given I am prone to dryness. But I admit, I am becoming quite the toner devotee and this alcohol-free version soothes and refreshes. I love having a second step of cleansing and it preps and evens the texture of my skin. The aromatherapy is a bonus: Geranium flower oil can reduce the appearance of pores while Rosemary oil helps reduce excess oil production for a balanced complexion.

Emulsion Pure has been a god-send these summer months. Have I mentioned I can get super irritated and even have violent allergies to some bug bites? This soother cools and comforts. You can use it both on the face and body for relief from acne, insect bites, waxing treatments and superficial burns. Lavender oil provides antiseptic benefits to reduce bacteria and help heal burns. Cypress oil evens out the skin tone to minimize the blotches. Rosemary oil increases blood circulation, moisturizes and treats sun-damaged skin. I’ve also found it super helpful against my recent psoriasis flare up.

Masque 105 has all the characteristics of a classic clay mask but it doesn’t leave my skin tight and dry. Not as thick as some other versions, the application is silkier and more hydrating. Specially designed for dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin, the mask works to detoxify and refine. I’m left with clear and glowing skin, and my tone is more even thanks to anti-inflammatory and calming Lavender oil. Geranium oil firms the skin.

Yon-ka is available at dermstore.com or find your local retailer here.

Late Summer Pool Prep

Late Summer Pool Prep // Belle Belle Beauty

I know I just came back from the beach, but this party just doesn’t stop. In honor of a birthday celebration, we’ve planned a day at the pool this weekend. And while I should be fairly pool ready, I’ve come across a couple gems that are perfect for late summer grooming.

First up, my skin can get really dry and itchy. Not to mention, I tend to have a very unpleasant (even violent) reaction to bug bites. I managed to avoid a burn at the beach, but the extra sun dehydrated my skin. So I’ve been soothing and cooling with Sarna Original lotion. The menthol and camphor cool on contact, easing itching calming inflamed skin. While it does have a strong fragrance, I actually find it medicinally pleasant. For those who aren’t wild about menthol, try the Sarna Sensitive lotion – super hydrating, fragrance-free, steroid-free and powered with an analgesic to ease an painful dryness.

And of course we all know the battle against hair during the summer months. A little tidbit about me – I’ve lasered most of my body. But I skipped the top half of my legs. In the winter, I just let it run wild – I got lucky with blond, fine hair. But in the summer, I can’t resist getting rid of that stuff. Because I don’t want to be bothered shaving all the time, I have turned to the Philips Satin Perfect epilator. While it does pull hair out at the root (with a tiny bit of sting), my easily irritated skin manages to stay calm and no redness to be seen. Not to mention, the results last loads longer than regular shaving. And you don’t have to grow your hair out to use it – it removes even the shortest of hair. I’m just about ready to ditch my razor for good!

Lustful Luxury Friday: Darphin Body Scrub and Lotion

Darphin

There is something about Darphin that just immediately transports me to Paris. The sleek, oh-so-French typeset and beautiful (not cloying) scents are very European spa-like. This little bath and body duo is an indulgence. But not as big of an indulgence as flying yourself over to spa in the French countryside.

Darphin Aromatic Nourishing Smoothing Body Scrub is actually a gomage – a thicker and translucent gel that whips itself into a nourishing milk when it connects with water. The natural and organic ingredients like natural cranberry extracts, bamboo particles and silica powder work on lots of different levels to exfoliate and soften skin. One plus side on this scrub, in the shower it doesn’t just slide off of you so no wasted product!

And naturally, followed up by Darphin Silky Moisturizing Lotion we get the whole Darphin skin experience. This formula is used by beauty therapists at Darphin’s Paris Institute. It zaps skin with immediate and intense hydration, leaving skin smooth. The gel formula is perfect for the hotter months, particularly with its fast-absorbing properties.
