bareMinerals BAREPRO Performance Wear Powder Foundation

bareMinerals BAREPRO Performance Wear Powder Foundation on Belle Belle Beauty

I usually shy away from powder foundation, but I’ve been following a new supplement routine that has my normally dry skin a little more oily and glowy. So this powder foundation landed on my desk at the perfect time. bareMinerals foundations have always worked well for me. My skin drinks in the mineral formulas. And the shade range is solid in my light to medium tone so it is easy to get a perfect match. I am currently using Natural.

This new powder version is long-wear powered with vitamins and minerals. The pigments work to perfect complexion. And also improve skin clarity over time. I use the BAREPRO Core Coverage Brush and tap the foundation into my skin.

Available at Sephora or take advantage of this offer at bareMinerals through 10/9.

Kiehl’s Since 1851 ‘Dermatologist Solutions™’ Super Fluid UV Mineral Defense Sunscreen SPF 50+

Kiehl's Since 1851 'Dermatologist Solutions™' Super Fluid UV Mineral Defense Sunscreen SPF 50+ on Belle Belle Beauty

This weekend was full of pool time again. And naturally I bring down my sunscreens for everyone to use. I love keeping my friends safe in the sun and getting their thoughts on products. I snagged a new Keihl’s sunscreen that had been sitting on my counter for a couple weeks. When I cracked it open, I was completely blown away! I don’t think I’ll be able to use anything else on my face all summer.

I’ve used Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50+ religiously in the past. The newer Dermatologist Solutions™ Super Fluid UV Mineral Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ is a twist on the original but with mineral sunscreen formula. The texture is super lightweight but still nourishes my drier skin. The mineral ingredients play nice with my sensitive skin. The shade is lightly tinted which works beautifully on my light-to-medium skin tone. I have heard reviews of a whitish cast but I in no way had this issue. I love using it under makeup as a primer, especially on these sun intense summer days. Lastly, the formula contains vitamin E which can fight against damage-causing free radicals.

Available at Kiehl’s and Nordstrom.

COOLA Mineral Face Sunscreen

COOLA Mineral Face Sunscreen // Belle Belle Beauty

I’ve found a new favorite face SPF in COOLA’s new mineral collection. They are formulated with my beloved physical sunblockers, yet have the most transparent application and beautiful finish! These three formulas are all slightly different, each suited for preferences and skin type. And I love that it is a feel-good product; all formulas are vegan friendly, cruelty-free and organic.

First up is the Mineral SPF 30 Cucumber Matte Finish which has a light and natural cucumber scent. The lotion is white but applies transparent. The finish is silky, matte and works well under makeup. It is also made with organic Rose Hip Oil, rich in free radical fighting Vitamin C. Shea Butter smooths and hydrates skin. This is my pick for those who have oilier skin or those who need a gluten-free formula.

COOLA’s Mineral SPF 30 Unscented Matte Tint has the same abundant organic ingredients as the Cucumber Matte Finish, but has a very slight tint. Also well suited for oilier skin, this could be worn on its own for very very light coverage. And if you are sensitive to or prefer no scent, this is right up your alley! This one is also gluten-free.

Mineral SPF 20 Rose Essence Tint is my personal favorite. Most like a true CC Cream, this formula provides a little bit of coverage and much needed hydration. Rose, usually not my favorite scent, is very light and actually pleasant – likely because of its organic nature. This one is also zinc-free for those who are sensitive to that ingredient. Organic Acai Oil contains vitamins and Omaga-3s, providing defense against aging. Organic Sunflower Seed Extract and Linseed Oil help with elasticity and redness. And Cucumber Extract helps calm my easily irritated skin.

From transparent to tinted, unscented to roses, you can’t go wrong with these from COOLA. Take your pick at coolasuncare.com.

Advanced Mineral Makeup

Advanced Mineral Makeup on Belle Belle Beauty

I used to think mineral makeup was chalky and heavy feeling. Now I know better… with one of my all time favorite foundations being bareMinerals READY SPF 20 Foundation. For those wanting a more glowy, liquid option, look no further than Advanced Mineral Makeup.

Advanced Mineral Makeup is a 100% natural mineral makeup line created by Annie Mayo. With its lightweight and high definition properties, the foundation has been a hit on the set of NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy. If it is good enough for them, then I had to try it.

I’ve been using the liquid foundation in Ginger Snap for a couple weeks. What has me most pleased is the way the foundation lets my skin breathe. While the formula is oil free, my dry skin doesn’t feel dehydrated. I’m plagued by redness and the anti-inflammatory properties help calm down angry skin. Not to mention the foundation is free of talc, perfumes, parabens, dyes or preservatives, minimizing irritation.

Advanced Mineral Makeup Swatches on Belle Belle Beauty

I’ve been on a bit of a kick applying foundation with my fingers. Make sure to wash your hands. Apply a little on the back of your hand, pick up a little bit at a time with your fingers and work from the nose outward. This “hands-on” approach seems to allow for greater blending and a lighter application. The result is medium coverage with a glowy (but not shiny) finish. I’ve been wearing Chantecaille HD Perfecting Powder over the foundation and getting a full 8 hours of wear.

Note: this foundation is cruelty-free. Please see this post for other cruelty-free options.

Brush on Block

Brush on Block is water and sweat resistant SPF 30 that you apply via a self-dispensing fluffy brush. The formula contains broad-spectrum physical sunscreen – in other words, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide – which I find to be gentler on my sensitive skin. Mineral powder is also preferable for those with acne-prone skin, preventing break-outs and clogged pores that lotion or spray SPFs can cause.

While it looks like there isn’t much product, this should last 3-4 months with regular use. I’ve been using it for the past couple weeks and haven’t put a dent in it. You can wear this under makeup, but I actually like the translucent finish this gives over my makeup. And you avoid the whole greasy situation that can wreak beauty havoc. I love being able to sweep it on hard to protect areas like around my nose and on my ears.

There are lots of beneficial ingredients in there too. Green Tea Leaf Extract is a natural antioxidant while Safflower Seed Oil is an emollient that moisturizes and protects the skin and both Chamomile Extract and Honeysuckle help prevent skin inflammation and irritation.

And moms: this is safe for kiddos over 6 months old. It might even be easier to use than lotion and sprays, not to mention a breeze to travel with.

Brush on Block is part of the Susan Posnick family. Susan Posnick, former celebrity makeup artist, developed a makeup line that focuses on substantial sun protection. I am already a huge fan of her COLORDUO Lip Pencil. Get your Brush on Block at www.brushonblock.com.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Beauty for a Cause

You know I love beauty with a cause – look good AND feel good. This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I selected some of my favorite products that are donating a portion of proceeds to the fight for a cure and supporting patients.

1. Estée Lauder Evelyn Lauder and Elizabeth Hurley Dream Lip Collection: This set includes Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Candy and Pure Color Gloss in Pink Innocence along with a pink snakeskin-printed clutch. I love Pink Innocence for an easy hydrating gloss and this edition comes in an adorable pot with a patterned lid. For each purchase of the Evelyn Lauder Dream Lip Collection, Estée Lauder will donate 20% of the suggested retail price to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

2. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Disco: Shiseido has partnered with Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) to support their philanthropic arm, Cancer and Careers. By donating $5 for every Lacquer Rouge in Disco sold throughout the month of October, Shiseido will give back to the non-profit organization dedicated to supporting working women living with cancer. Lacquer Rouge is a liquid lipstick that has insane shine. Disco is an eye-poping, totally fun bright pink. The color has great staying power and doesn’t leave lips dry.

3. Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Pumped Up Pink: These enormously popular balms are crazy nourishing. The the wash of color is perfect for those who want a more subtle look. The Chubby Stick comes with a pretty pink carrying case with a heart-shaped charm puller with Pink Ribbon. $3.00 from this purchase will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

4. Youngblood Crushed Mineral Blush: A portion of the proceeds of sales from 3 shades of Crushed Mineral Blush (Dusty Pink, Sherbet, and Tulip all pink of course!) are going to be donated to Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. I’ve been using Dusty Pink (a brownish pink) and Tulip (baby doll pink) – both have a satin finish. The powder blends beautifully and gives a natural flush. It is a very natural look, but can be layered for more pop.
