Face Sprays

Face Sprays on Belle Belle Beauty

While on a tear through Sephora a couple weeks ago while visiting a friend in Kansas City, we both dove for setting sprays and ended up with two different versions. I love both, but for different reasons.

First, I settled on KAT VON D Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist. This soft mist goes on easy as the spray is super fine. The cucumber scent is so refreshing in the mornings, which are never easy for me. Once it hits the skin, it totally disappears while still boosting complexion. My makeup (which is fairly minimal) stays put and looking fresh all day.

Cathy picked up Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray which goes on before makeup or as a setting spray post-makeup application. We played around with hers, using it right after cleansing and were blown away how even and glowing our skin looked. The coconut water and probiotics revived and hydrated skin. Plus, used throughout the day, it refreshes.

Next time, I will snag the Too Faced Spray, mostly because I wear limited makeup and just am looking for a natural glow. But for those who wear a little more makeup and need staying power, I really love KAT VON D Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist.

TULA Urban Defense Hydrating Mist

TULA Urban Defense Hydrating Mist on Belle Belle Beauty

I have always liked mists but mostly used them on a whim during the summer. Honestly, they never became part of my everyday routine. But TULA Urban Defense Hydrating Mist is worth keeping on the regular. It is perfectly designed for my needs for hydration, protection and to fight against redness.

I have heard about TULA products and accolades for their hydrating products but hadn’t had a chance to try the line. The nourishing properties of the mist makes me want to branch out! The mist works via all sorts of interesting ingredients, many which I have seen in health foods and eastern medicine (not to mention a goop article or two). Included:

  • Coconut water acts like a natural moisturizer that helps reduce excess oil.
  • Ashwagandha extract is a stress-relieving, anti-aging herb that calms skin.
  • Reishi mushroom extract has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic agents that fight free radical damage.
  • Algae extract hydrates and detoxifies, while replenishing essential vitamins and minerals.
  • Probiotic technology protects against harmful bacteria and restores skin’s natural balance.

After my skin drinks in the mist, it is supple, remarkably soothed and even in appearance. The fragrance is incredibly light – vaguely clean and crisp. I give my face 4-5 sprays from about eight inches away. I like to finish my nightly skin care routine with a round of mists, but it also works great during the day over makeup. It also came in handy when I rolled in from the pool directly to a casual dinner over the long weekend.

Available via TULA on Amazon.

Mario Badescu The Icon, The Cult Favorite & The Hero’ Set at the Nordstrom Sale

Mario Badescu The Icon, The Cult Favorite & The Hero' Set at the Nordstrom Sale on Belle Belle Beauty

I know practically every blog is talking about the Nordstrom sale right now – so I will spare you a round up of favorites since so many of my fellow bloggers have curated stellar picks. Just one thing I’d like to share on the beauty front since this is the perfect time to stock up on classics.

There is something so pure and timeless about Mario Badescu. Their packaging is chic and simple at the same time. For the sale, the brand is offering the The Icon, The Cult Favorite & The Hero’ Set – a trio of absolute “must haves”. Included is:

  • Drying Lotion – the only spot treatment I use on my acne. The calamine, salicylic acid and drying formula zaps stubborn spots overnight. Dip a cotton swab into pink sediment at the bottom of the bottom (don’t shake the bottle). Apply directly on the affected spot.
  • Botanical Exfoliating Scrub – a botanical scrub ideally used a couple times a week for a deep clean. Skin is left radiant and clear.
  • Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater – a favorite summertime product, this mist is fragrant and hydrating. The slightly herbal fragrance awakens the skin without disturbing makeup. Also great for by the pool.

All the products are made in the USA. Shop Nordstrom sale here.

ADORAtherapy Good Mood Boost Mist

540812bf766e77cd9d36e9c4c6141c85

I had a moment walking downtown this weekend. I had a terrible summer cold and temps topped 100 here in Tulsa the first time this year. The atmosphere was silent and heavy. While I wasn’t in a terrible mood, I could feel the melancholy. Strange how that happens. When I returned home, I happened on a package from ADORAtherapy/Mood-Boosting Aromatherapy.

This mood spray, aka Clear Away!, was not only perfect to reset my mood. But it was also perfectly light and clean on a brutally hot summer day. The formula has organic sage, peppermint and lemon. I plan on stocking up for travel too – when I so often get super anxious. And a stash at the office is in order as well given how it is super subtle and works in professional environments. Good Mood Boost indeed!

Glossier

Glossier on Belle Belle Beauty

I am fairly sure nothing could drag me away from my happy life here in Oklahoma. But if there is one thing I occasionally miss, it is the pleasures of a big city. The latest and greatest, trendy food and fashion inspiration come to mind. So when iconic beauty blogger, Emily Weiss, launched a beauty line up in New York City, I immediately hit purchase and a set of her complexion essentials arrived at my doorstep. A little Manhattan in Tulsa.

While Glossier does offer a la carte, I think their Phase One Set is the best value and really what you need to experience the fun and sophisticated brand. And once you do, you’ll appreciate the simplicity and natural look. Phase One comes with a mist, moisturizer, balm and tint, all for $80 which I think is a remarkable price for four luxe products.

The packaging was solid. Not porcelain or anything (but after breaking my Tata Harper mask in the shower, I’ve come to appreciate plastic). I loved the box it arrived in – so much so that I saved it for a month until I realized I was crazy. I did hold onto the adorable bubble zip bags – those are cherished for travel.

Because I ordered right after Thanksgiving, I received a free tote and extra mist. I use both at work – the tote for my lunch and the mist to refresh my makeup. Beware: keep away from the eye area (even with eyes closed) – it can be irritating. That being said, the rosewater spray is a welcome addition to the moisture factor and I use it to prep skin before the moisturizer.

Rather than stand alone hydration, I think the priming moisturizer plays better as a primer for my dry skin this time of year. In the summer, I expect it to be perfect just on its own but for now I need an extra facial oil or cream. The oil-free formula might be perfect for those with oiler or combo skin. The gel texture absorbs quickly and makes the perfect canvas for makeup.

The BalmDotCom is probably the line’s most iconic product. The beeswax based formula is soothing, healing and locks in moisture like a champ. It is my little winter MVP. I have used it on cuticles, elbows, dry spots and lips. And I actually appreciate that it is basically scent-free – perfect for sleep, work or layered. The thick texture takes a while to come out of the tube’s dispenser, but that keeps me from wasting this precious goodness – as my ex would say, haste makes waste.

The final products is Perfecting Skin Tint which, unlike the moisturizer, packs a punch of delicious hydration thanks to glycerin. And ever since the arrival of these serum-like foundations, I adore the way they add slight coverage, improve skin but still look so natural. Make sure to shake. And I need extra concealer for blemishes and under-eye but overall this might be my favorite out of the bunch. I think it will also be ideal in the summer when I am doing the “undone” look more often than not. I ordered a medium and it is perfect. If you need help, there is a graphic to help you decide on the site. Available in Light, Medium and Dark. Keep in mind that coverage is very sheer so you don’t need to fear a huge mismatch unless you are on the edges of the complexion spectrum.
