Nails Inc + Victoria, Victoria Beckham on Belle Belle Beauty

I have to admit this was a welcome blog break – sorry for my sudden disappearance. I was in a bit of a holiday funk. Don’t get me wrong – I had a lovely time with family. I just wasn’t as jazzed about sharing looks or routines. And having analyzed my 250-ish posts in 2014, I can safely say those are your favorites, dear readers. So rest assured, you will see more in 2015.

But for now, let me share a new mani that is supremely chic. I admit to being a huge fashion admirer of Victoria Beckham and am thrilled that she has made some starts into the beauty industry. Her latest is my favorite yet.

The London-based Nails Inc. and Victoria worked together to create two limited edition bottles to sit with the label’s spring collection. Bamboo White is a sophisticated nude that I cannot stop wearing. I get an opaque and bone ivory with three coats and it lasts a good three days (a New Year’s Miracle on my little nails).

The other shade is Judo Red – think a deep tomato red inspired by Japanese culture. I might just have to nip this holiday funk with a manicure in this cheerful shade for New Year’s Eve.

The shades are housed in Venetian glass by art director Fabien Baron and customized by Beckham herself. They are truly a collector’s item for the 2015 beauty buff.

Available at NET-A-PORTER and Nails, Inc.

Nails inc. Couture

Nails inc. Couture on Belle Belle Beauty

Nails inc. has been a long time favorite of mine with their stunning colors – Baker Street anyone? Well, now they have come up with something pretty darn clever. Personalize your very own unique bottle of nail polish – a gift to yourself or for a true polish junkie. So how does this work?

Head over to nailsinc.com (their new US site) and tailor-make a unique bottle of polish. First, pick your color from the extensive color range. Then select a unique lid with either crystals or studs in metallic, black, pink or grey. Add a label with your very own shade name. And then it comes boxed in a gift box, ready to gift away or rip open yourself. Add two stickers depending on the occasion. Voilà – you have your very own nail polish. How fun is that? Available at nailsinc.com.

Golden Manicure

Golden Manicure // Belle Belle Beauty

Last night was a manicure night that is not to be forgotten. I wanted to try out a chocolate brown from seasons past, Laura Mercier Cocoa Suede, and layer what I thought was a gold glitter over it. Well, I was in for a surprise. First, a note on the chocolate brown – I was worried this could look dull and dirty. But I actually found it to be a perfect fall neutral. It is technically limited edition (I believe from last fall), but it is still in stock here.

Then the magic happened. I opened nails inc. Galaxy in Knightsbridge Road and was met with an opaque golden with dimension galore. This full-coverage polish had 3-D effect pearl with foil and small colored glitter. This is the first “glitter” polish that I’ve found with such an opaque finish. On my right hand, I used a lighter touch and the Laura Mercier Cocoa Suede shows through slightly, if you prefer a less brilliant look.

Which do you prefer? The plain chocolate brown or the golden manicure?

nails inc. Gel Effect Polish

nails inc. Gel Effect Polish // Belle Belle Beauty

Frankly, I’m not wild about gel manicures. They tend to do a number on my weaker nails. But I do absolutely love the shiny finish and lasting power. This at-home gel effect collection from nails inc. provides all the glossiness without the UV lamp or complex removal process. You know what else I love about gel manicures? I love the plump, jelly-like finish. And nails inc. included a revolutionary technology in Gel Effect polish to get that same plump-y look we get in gel manicures.

The pigment makes for opaque coverage in two coats. The polish goes on smoothly. And I get a solid five days without chipping (that’s a quite a bit for me – I’m hard on my nails). Here I am wearing Porchester Square:

Layered on top is Kensington Caviar Gel Effect Plumping Top Coat that amps up the plumping factor even more. The top coat has that wet-look and great shine, not to mention extending the lifetime of my manicure. Finally a gel-like look without all the hassle (or price tag!). Gel Effects is available at Sephora.

Nails Across the Pond

There is something alluring about European beauty. Don’t even get me started on the damage I would do in a French Pharmacy. So, when my friend and fellow blogger, The Madam Editor, agreed to do a post on nails in London, I couldn’t resist! Make sure you check out her tumblr for a witty (and incredibly well written) look at fashion, shopping and life of a writer.

Nails; uptown, downtown, London town.

Let’s face it I know nothing about beauty. Nothing about beauty products, I don’t even know what kind of tinted moisturiser is good for my skin tone…that’s a tale for another day but what I do know is a thing or two about nail polish. I love a good manicure, at 3am even better (don’t ask) but a good manicure, that perfectly polished nail, makes me something giddy and I am forever searching for the perfect lacquer hence I have an array of pretty pinks, brights and darks. When Lindsay asked me to do a post on things we London girls enjoy that can’t be had just yet across the pond, well my go to was nail polish; the uptown, downtown kind. Barry M for the more hip Downtown chick and the Champagne Nail bar in Harvey Nichols…you know that’s how uptown girls roll.

Barry M is a drugstore and widely loved brand sold in Boots and Superdrug and other very good drugstores in and around the capital. They have an amazing collection of long lasting nail paints in the prettiest colours and most inventive styles; croc effect nails anyone? Pardon the ghastly dryness of my skin but you get the gist, and such a breeze to apply too. Their colours are always fun and popping especially for the spring summer and for £2.95 a pop you cannot go wrong and did I say they are long lasting, chip resistant. Yes please.

For the more uptown chichi chick we have the Champagne nail bar in Harvey Nichols courtesy of nails inc. I love everything about this place and the concept, like an exclusive beauty salon, you sip on champagne whilst having your nails and feet pampered to prim perfection, with sex and the city or the September issue etc playing in the back ground. With services like the “Lady who lunches manicure”, “the front row manicure”, “well heeled pedicure” and “the crystal pedicure” with real Swarovski crystal that lasts up to three weeks…what’s not to love? Luxury comes at a price but it’s a price well worth it, besides it still won’t break the bank. Check in to Harvey Nicks on your next hop stop to the Big smoke.
