I’m in the mode of looking for something simple for my face. As I treat my rosacea, I have found I prefer something ultra soothing in my skin care routine. While I have been using Cetaphil, I have actually enjoyed the equally price-friendly JASON collection even better.
The JĀSÖN Gentle Basicsis formulated with a minimum number of essential ingredients. The hypoallergenic products are friendly for those with ultra-sensitive and dry skin. The inclusion of Borage Oil deposits essential Omega-3 acids to nourish.
No surprise that the cleansing towelettes are my favorite – perfect for travel and late, lazy nights. The whole range is free of parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates. Gluten free. Fragrance free.
Admittedly, I meant to get this post up for Earth Day, but the month of April just slipped right by! Keep in mind the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizers‘ nod to a healthy Earth. Caudalie embraces the “1% For the Planet”movement; 1% of Caudalie’s word wide turnover goes toward ecological associations.
These pink shaded tubes cover moisturizing needs for those with oilier skin or those (like me) who need a rich and restorative formula. Each uses at least 92% natural ingredients including organic grape water, which soothes and hydrates. Vinolevure – a patented blend – helps reinforce immune defense.
The collection includes:
Moisturizing Sorbet – A lightweight gel-cream with a water-like consistency that strengthens, moisturizes and soothes skin
Moisturizing Mattifying Fluid – Offers a blotting effect, reducing excess sebum and preventing its production while restoring skin’s moisture level
Moisture Recovery Cream – A smooth, comforting every day facial cream
Intense Moisture Rescue Cream – A rich, restorative facial cream, perfect for use at night
Kiehl’s new natural masks might be my favorite recent launch from the brand – I’ve been reaching for these almost every other night, alternating the clarifying and energizing formulas.
Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask invigorates skin, developing a brightened complexion. The cranberry acts as an antioxidant while the turmeric works as an anti-inflamatory. The texture is grainy, allowing for exfoliation as I wash the mask off.
Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Mask works against pollutants that can cause premature aging. Chestnut purifies skin by removing toxins. The smooth mask has a cooling and soothing effect.
Both masks smell amazing and are comfortable to wear. I apply with a foundation brush and leave on for about 10 minutes. Available at kiehls.com and Nordstrom.
I know I’ve written a lot about natural products on here before. I think it is fairly common that beauty buffs like us are trying to work more friendly ingredients into both our diet and routine more frequently these days. So I wanted to share two of my new favorite items that are both effective and natural.
JĀSÖN Foaming Shower Oils: A sort of tropical shower gel that really nourishes dry, winter skin. The foaming is subtle but it manages to leave no greasy residue. There are three scents: Smoothing Coconut hydrates and revitalizes dry skin, Nourishing Shea Butter calms irritated and problematic skin while Renewing Olive helps to maintain skin’s elasticity and promote radiance.
Alba Botanica Fast Fix Collection: I have been relying on the blemish buster for the past couple weeks since my skin seems to be acting up. Amazingly the Fast Fix has kept the clogged pore relatively painless with a quick healing. The puffy eye remedy has come in handy after some late holiday celebrations. And the tube are pocket-sized so perfect for on the go. Range includes:
· Fast Fix for a Pimple
· Fast Fix for Puffy Eyes
· Fast Fix for Undereye Circles
· Fast Fix for Thin Lips
And one quick Cyber Monday note: I left this out on Friday and would be remiss to not mention this awesome deal on one of my favorite natural beauty brands. Now through 12/8, take 15% off any Tata Harper purchase with code FF2015.
I am not one of those fanatical natural beauty fans. But lately I’ve noticed I am drawn to natural products. I just never thought deodorant would be one of them. I hate being stinky and frankly always thought natural deodorant wouldn’t work well. Now I am singing a different tune thanks to LAVANILA.
LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant is 100% natural and super soothing to the sensitive under-arm area. Magically, this aluminum-free deodorant is really effective. It isn’t an antiperspirant but it does keep odor at bay. I am using the vanilla coconut scent which is subtle but slightly spicy/tropical.
The formula is free of mineral oil, silicone, dyes and synthetic fragrance. But it does contain Beta-Glucan Technology which works against bacteria and as an antioxidant. Goji Berry, Japanese Honeysuckle and Lemon and Tea Tree oils work to fight odor and manage to nourish the skin at the same time. Available at Sephora and Amazon.
I’m fresh off a fabulous trip to Napa Valley which I also like to call my “Happy Place”. There is literally no other place I’d rather be. While a part of it is wonderful wine, I am just as invigorated by great produce, long walks through the vineyards, delicious coffee and (most importantly) seeing my dear and wonderful friends.
While I was out there, I took a break from work-week makeup and went for a fresh and healthy glow. Just a tad of product to even out my skin, some color on the cheeks and a swath of mascara. Here are the products I turned to:
Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation – With the warm and dry heat, my skin needed a serious dose of moisture and this barely tinted foundation provided just that. The formula is 60% water and 10% mineral pigments in botanical oil. These pigments work to reflect light for a natural luminous finish.
Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint – Although Tata is from the East Coat, the Napa Valley reflects a lot of what she’s about: natural products, botanicals and a natural look. I use Very Vivacious as a cheek tint for just a hint of flush that wakes up my complexion.
Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Waterproof Mascara in Very Black – This is the only waterproof mascara that I use and I love that I can refresh my stash frequently because it is so affordable. There is nothing worse than a dried out waterproof mascara. The formula lends to full but still soft lashes that aren’t stiff. And there are no worries about messy fallout during hotter or more active days.
This post is inspired (but not sponsored by) Glossier. Another favorite for a healthy glow is their Perfecting Skin Tint which offers just a wash of color and is perfect for those with oilier skin.
