Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight on Belle Belle Beauty

I has been a long time since I have hit up a Clinique counter. But if anything was tempting me, it was their “Chubby Sticks” – launched a couple years ago, I loved the multi-use and what appeared to be creamy texture.

When Neimans sent over the newest Chubby, I was so excited to have a chance to dive in. The Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight has the creamy texture that I envisioned. This light-reflecting formula is super sheer which works well on my mid-30s skin, especially in a professional environment. I like to swipe over foundation on cheekbones, nose and brow bones. I totally skip eye shadow, preferring just this slight wash of shadow below brows.

The sophisticated shimmer lasts all day. Those with oily or combo skin types will love that this is oil-free. And to dispense more of the stick, all you do is twist the bottom – so far it appears to have a generous amount of product, particularly for the price point. This week, I am going to attempt a bare face but you better bet I will be “cheating” with this (and a little concealer).

Roses… Are All That

rose

Happy First Day of Spring! While I may have a little spring in my step and fresh tulips on my counter, I always turned my nose up at anything rose. While I maybe have warmed to a select few fragrances with rose notes, I never really fell for anything “rose” by name. Leave it to the beauty department at Neiman Marcus to change my tune.

AERIN Beauty Rose de Grasse Parfum on Belle Belle Beauty

First, AERIN Beauty Rose de Grasse Parfum – something I certainly didn’t expect to fall for. I never am drawn to ultra-feminine and floral scents. But all that has changed because, first, the roses themselves are special – Rose Centifolia are hand-picked in Grasse, France. Second, the rose is layered with one of my most favorite notes, a warm amber. Lastly, there is a aqua clarity that lends to a cleaner and less cloying rose. Who knew I’d discover a rose-based fragrance as my spring scent?

Filed under “not surprising at all”: I love face oils. My skin loves face oils. But I have never been drawn to one with rose. Chantecaille Rose de Mai Face Oil changed my perspective. Packed with hydration like other face oils, this version is unusually lightweight but still nourishing. I love it under makeup for an added glow. My skin stays supple and dewy for the full day. And the best news is that long-term use will strengthen skin and boost metabolism to fight wrinkles.

Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour

NMC1T0Q_m_51

In theory, I love lip tints. Zero fuss and zero transfer (to the wine glass). But I always find myself either dry and cakey or full of regret with a color lasting a full day. But I have finally found a happy medium. Enter Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour.

This aerated color is rich but still light. Laura says it best: the color “floats” over the lips. And it comes in a fabulous array of shades. While I am way back in my neutral zone (oh so often wearing this) I actually enjoy wearing Fuchsia Mauve which is described as a purple but looks more berry.

This one acts like a chapstick but looks like a stain. All around a MVP.

Cle de Peau Beaute Concentrated Brightening Eye Serum

Cle de Peau Beaute Concentrated Brightening Eye Serum on Belle Belle Beauty

I knew it was going to take a lot to get me off this eye cream bandwagon, but I figured no time better than “sinus infection time” to give another version a roll. I was faced with puffiness (which I usually don’t have to deal with) and dark circles. So, it was Cle de Peau Beaute Concentrated Brightening Eye Serum to the rescue.

This luxe eye cream is housed in a chic grey pump with the classic Cle de Peau elegance. The serum (which is almost creamy in my mind) is designed to provide brightness below the eyes while casting it with an infused light. While some might want to save this for AM application because of that point, I found the serum so hydrating and soothing that I use it at night too.

The formula contains Cle de Peau’s Illuminating Complex that emphasizes both moisture and radiance. It also works against pigmentation – my persistent foe. The best effect is a certain dewiness that I find especially hard to achieve on the under eye – I am always battling that “crape”-iness. Somehow this masked my puffiness as well, eliminating that nasty “shadow”. While I don’t think I had immediate de-puff effect, my skin looked so much better, I no longer noticed it. This one is worth the splurge.

R+Co

R+Co on Belle Belle Beauty

I must be on a hair kick especially on the heels of this post. There is something about the feeling of freshly washed and blown out hair that is putting a little spring in my step. Besides these tools, I am also reaching for a new-to-me hair care line, R+Co.

First a little about the line: the brand is a collective of professional artists. Each product is designed to reflect more than one viewpoint. The result is professional products that work to achieve a wide range of looks. While I am dying to try the whole line, I have only played with Gemstone Color Shampoo & Conditioner and Chiffon Styling Mousse.

I recently started having my hair professionally colored. A couple reasons: first, I was going grey. Second, I found someone I finally trust. And third, I wanted a more polished and professional look. But I am still using “training wheels” aka demi-permanent color. And this stuff only lasts 6-8 weeks. So I really treat my hair with kid gloves and that starts with color-safe shampoo and conditioner.

R+Co. Gemstone smells like the tropics. The shampoo has a great lather. And it works no matter what (faux) color your hair is. Just like the shampoo, the conditioner contains yummy ingredients like Hibiscus Extract (softens and protects), Pea Extract (preserves color), Rice Extract (smooths) and Golden Root Extract (protects).

Last but not least… I struggle with volume and hold. Mousse has become my friend. And the Chiffon Styling Mousse is lightweight, provides shine and somehow gives my fine strands some hold. I just apply to the roots of wet hair and style away.

ghd

ghd on Belle Belle Beauty

In honor of the Neiman Marcus Spring 2015 Beauty Event, I thought I’d tempt you with some goods to stock up on. There isn’t a better time for investing in great beauty products. This month, I have been trying out ghd, a luxury hair care line that stands for nothing less than “Good Hair Day”. This brand has a cult-like status and my hair stylist and friend, Nic, raved about their tools today when I popped in for a little color (going grey is soooo fun). ghd introduced a revolutionary ceramic iron to start off and their reputation continues with brushes, tools and hair care that provide amazing shine.

First up, the Eclipse Hair Styler is new and is able to style faster with less heat (specifically 365°F). The tri-zone technology works on even difficult hair and can actually make hair stronger. My favorite part is that it styles big chunks of hair at one time which not only makes for a quick style but also a more natural look that is kinder to strands.

My personal favorite wave tool is the Soft Curling Iron. My hair doesn’t hold much of a curl, so I like to use this bigger 1.25″ barrel for full waves and bended ends. The cool tip makes it easy to wrap hair around the wand. There is a auto-sleep mode after 30 minutes which also gives me peace of mind.

A final favorite is the Classic Wave-Wand which is an oval shape and clip-less. The shape is tapered between 1 and 1.5″. This wand also has a cool tip and a long cord to allow for nimble styling. If I wasn’t so dependent on the clip, this would be my pick for waves. On day I shall master that wand! In the meantime, I am going old school.

Nic also pointed out that she loves ghd tools because they are safe to use internationally with universal voltage.
