I’ve been so focused on luxe products lately that I decided it was time to revisit some of my budget favorites. I scoured the aisles of my local CVS and found some winners I’d love to share with you. My skin is irritatingly dry this summer. I am not sure if it is the air conditioning or just the fact that we have had a bit of drier weather lately. The new Reach Complete Care Triple Angle Floss Soft Toothbrush got me to stop reaching for my beloved electric toothbrush. Why you ask? I am hooked on the angled bristles and the way they get my teeth feeling ultra-clean without irritating my gums. And after some research, I am convinced that tongue cleaning is an integral part of tooth care and keeps my breath smelling great (there is a built-in cleaner on the back of the brush). Strange, I know. But try it! World of difference.

NYX Cosmetics The Face Awards 2014

Looking for the next big thing in the beauty volgger world? Look no further than the Third Annual Fine Artistry of Cosmetic Elites (FACE) Awards, an international competition to find The Beauty Vlogger of The Year. Entrants have the chance to win $25k, mentorship from pro artists and a year’s supple of NYX Cosmetics.

Launched to celebrate the newest beauty “influencers” in the industry, the contest celebrates the importance of digital in our world. And let’s admit it… is there anything better to watch while taking an evening soak in the tub than a beauty video?

The FACE Awards began this year with 2,000 rising stars. It was then narrowed to the top 30 finalists. Right now, we are in the midst of the second round (narrowed to 20 finalists). The top six finalists will be flown out to Los Angeles in August to compete for the grand prize in front of beauty influencers and celebrity judges, as well as NYX Cosmetics founder Toni K. Contestants.

NYX Caribbean Collection 5 Color Palette Eye Shadow

I am blown away by the quality of NYX cosmetics. While the blush and some of the eyeliners were slightly disappointing, this 5 color palette knocked my socks off. I can’t help but compare it to the highly popular Urban Decay Naked Palatte. While there are not as many colors, the shape of the containers actually makes it easier to use brushes with the NYX palatte. The colors are highly pigmented but also neutral. There is very little shimmer to them, which is my preference. For under $9, this is a no-brainer.

NYX Slim Eye Pencil

Now I can see why this is so popular. I am just, just trying out this line of makeup. I guess better late to the party than to never arrive at all. First: $3.49. Yep, that’s right. Second: thanks to coconut oils, this pencil goes on really smooth. It comes in loads of shades, including tons of neutrals:

Black
Brown
Dark Brown
Light Brown
Charcoal
Medium Brown

The pencil has great staying power. At this price, you can afford to throw one in your purse, just in case. What a find!
