Two New Foundations From tarte and bareMinerals

Cutting Edge Foundations on Belle Belle Beauty

If you are in the market for a new foundation, there are a couple new formulations that have hit the shelves. And they have absolutely blown me away with their look, functionality and finish. But both a very different and I think distinctly suited for two different skin types/preferences.

bareMinerals Bareskin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation is a liquid foundation that melts into skin and nourishes with skin care ingredients. tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation is a talc-free powder foundation that offers a flawless, medium coverage finish.

bareMinerals Bareskin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation has a silky, ultra-thin texture that allows for buildable coverage. Thanks to skin care properties, over time skin becomes brighter and more even. Lilac plant stem cells offer important antioxidant protection. While I haven’t noticed drastic differences in my own skin tone, the promise keeps me reaching for this little bottle. This foundation is offered in an impressive 20 shades and I have a perfect match with Natural.

A couple notes about the packaging. I love the nimble bottle and twist off cap. Note: shake to make sure you don’t have separation but make sure to do this with the cap on – I had a bit of a messy situation this weekend thinking that the nozzle would keep foundation in even with that cap off (not my brightest moment, I know). Invest in the accompanying brush because it has a specially designed well to store the foundation as you buff it into skin. I get a full day wear out of the bareMinerals with a glowy finish.

On the other hand, tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation is a powder foundation but like bareMinerals Bareskin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation it is lightweight and improves that look of skin over time. The formula blends beautifully into skin without settling into lines and has one of the most natural finishes I’ve come across.

I’m most impressed by the waterproof, budge proof properties that absolutely lasted the promised 12-hour wear. Amazonian clay keeps the powder foundation from being matte or “dusky”, even on my dry skin. The mesh cover on the opening keeps the foundation mess and hassle-free – just press your brush into the mesh and swirl and tap. Then buff into skin.

If been using a Kabuki brush but I am a little tempted to order the brush designed to go with the foundation. It is offered in eleven shades and I was fairly surprised that I matched with the fifth shade even though my skin is light to medium toned (Light to Medium Neutral is what I wear). I can imagine those with darker skin tones might have an issue with matching.

Bottom line: if you have drier skin or want a glowy finish, go for the bareMinerals Bareskin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation. If you prefer slightly more coverage, prefer powder formulas or have oilier skin, tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation is just the ticket for you!

Get The Look: Jessica Biel’s Oscars Makeup

Get The Look: Jessica Biel's Oscars Makeup on Belle Belle Beauty

The last thing I want to do after these awards shows is inundate you with loads of “Get The Look” posts. But when I keep going to back to one look over and over again with the desire to inspire my own routine with the artist tips, I know it is too good not to share. So, now that the post-Oscar haze has passed, here is Jessica Biel’s beautiful look by Kayleen McAdams, ck one color global makeup artist.

Kayleen was inspired by a fresh and feminine look thanks to the “beautiful pastels in her dress, so I played with those tones.” She prepped her skin with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, to give her makeup a good base to stick to.

Then, she used a damp Beauty Blender to apply ck one 3-in-1 face makeup with SPF 8 in fair 200, followed by ck one 3-in-1 concealer in light 1 underneath the eyes, around the nose, and along the edges of her mouth to even out her skin. To highlight, she used Charlotte Tilbury Sculpt and Highlight Powder on the tops of Jessica’s cheekbones, down her nose, and on her cupid’s bow. Skin was finished with ck one cream + powder blush duo in breath 100 right on the apples of her cheeks and set with the powder side of the product to give the look staying power throughout the night.

For Jessica’s eyes, Kayleen started by using a fluffy brush to apply ck one cream + powder bronzer duo in deeply bronzed 400 all over the lid. Then, she used ck one powder eyeshadow in expose and evolved on the inner corners of the eye and along the lash line at the outer corners. Eyes were completed with two coats of ck one volumizing mascara on the top lashes to pump up the lashes. The same mascara was applied to the bottom lashes with an eyelash comb to slightly darken them.

On the lips, she used Tarte Lip Surgence in Lucky to cover her whole lip with a matte pink and in the center of her lips to give dimension and add moisture to her look. Lastly, Kayleen gave Jessica’s lips a good coating of Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Lip Balm to soak in while I did her eyes.

Sophie from Angel Food Style

Angel Food Style on Belle Belle Beauty One

This past September, I met Sophie of Angle Food Style at New York Fashion Week and have been hooked on her fashion blog ever since. I love her fresh, classic and Southern California looks that always are so polished. I loved visiting Los Angeles when I lived in the Bay Area and her gorgous photos take me right back there. Doesn’t hurt that she is one of the most genuine and nicest women I have met in the blogging world. And loves Maltese puppies as much as I do (that is a saying A LOT).

Besides a perfectly polished outfit, I noticed Sophie’s makeup always looked natural and finished without being overdone…(not to mention her “hard to ignore” natural beauty). With our endless chats on Twitter and Instagram, I knew she was a girl after my own heart – a true beauty junkie. If we meet up again, you will find us in Sephora undoubtedly.

So… I am so excited to have her on Belle Belle today to talk about her day-to-day look with a couple extra touches to make it holiday-ready. This everyday face has a “bit more oomph than the summer-appropriate mascara/bronzer/lip gloss situation”.

Angel Food Style on Belle Belle Beauty Three

Here are the products Sophie is wearing:

  1. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 5.25 (can’t get enough)
  2. Nars Bronzer in Laguna under cheekbones, on temples, chin
  3. Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in shade 10 “beige” on apples of cheeks
  4. Giorgio Armani Eye Quad in Bourdoir– I mixed the 4 nude shades together and concentrated the darkest shade in the outer corner
  5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Liner in Black on inside bottom waterline, Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Liner to line eyelids (I would die without this liquid liner- use it everyday)
  6. Bare Escentuals Buxom Mascara in black
  7. Anastasia Beverly Hills “Brow Wiz” pencil in Ash Blonde
  8. Nars lip gloss in “sweet revenge”– the perfect nude/pink every day shade

Like me, Sophie is a huge Armani fan. Their foundation, we both agree, is a best of breed. Sophie points out their high quality, “especially in the shadows – the pigments are so luxe and last all day”. Anastasia is a great resource for brow tools – I love her clear brow gel. And I have a Sephora package en route with NARS Laguna – can’t wait to try one of her “staples”.

Make sure to follow Sophie on Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram!

Get The Look Video: Rich Lips and Winged Eyeliner

Get The Look Winged Liner and Red Lip on Belle Belle Beauty

So excited to feature the second video from Sara and Rebecca in our “Get The Look” series. (Check out the first one here) Like Holiday Luxe, Sara and Rebecca used natural makeup products to achieve the look, including one of my favorite lines, Youngblood.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrYe-WEPWmo]

“While mixing too many trends can make you look overdone sometimes two looks are better than one! Winged eyeliner paired with a deep red lip creates a slightly retro look that somehow feels perfectly of the moment!”

The final look!

Holiday Shopping Makeup – An Afternoon Out

holiday shopping makeup on Belle Belle Beauty

I got a touch overwhelmed with work yesterday. You know that point when you approach complete lack of productivity? Yeah, I hit that. So, I put on some winter makeup and headed out for some holiday shopping. I took the opportunity to use some odds and ends in the makeup drawer and want to highlight some favorites:

  • Laura Mercier ‘Art Deco Muse Collection’ Lip Lacquer in Laque Rouge: I got so many compliments on this shade. It was balanced – not too warm and not too cool. The finish was ultra-shiny, it was easy to apply and I got a couple hours of wear out of it.
  • stila ‘all over shimmer’ liquid luminizer  (sample from birchbox): Highlighter can approach too disco on me, but this version is blendable and fairly sheer. I love it on my cheekbones.
  • Tarte EmphasEYES Waterproof Clay Shadow in Black: This liner applies like a gel and is super long-wear. The best part is the ultra-fine brush it comes with for a perfectly precise line.
  • CARGO Blu_ray Pressed Powder: This oil-free powder uses photochromatic pigments to automatically color correct make-up. It is micro-fine so lines are filled and imperfections are camoflauged. This is a great addition to tinted moisturizer or BB Cream when you just need a touch more.
  • NARS Illuminator Orgasm: I’m just not a fan of Orgasm blush on me, but this Illuminator is a different story. The sheer nature keeps it from being too orange. I love the subtle color on my cheeks when I am more fair during the winter months.

While I was out, I stopped at the local Le Métier de Beauté counter to check out their newest eye kit – it is a beauty!

Shades include (from top to bottom):

  • Axiom: sublime bronzed umber
  • Graphic: silver liquid metal
  • Crucible: rich pomegranate
  • Genre: deep gun metal

Loads of new and fabulous things are happening at Belle Belle for the holiday season and new year. The aforementioned overwhelming feeling was completely born from fabulous projects and partnerships – all on a happy note. Speaking of happy… I am thrilled to report I reached 10,000 Pinterest followers yesterday! Thank you followers – and for those of you who aren’t… link here. Cheers!
