Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub

I’ve been complaining about it here on the regular, but I feel the need to say it again: my skin has been going nuts. I finally found a serum that has cleared up my skin within a week (keep an eye out for a review later this week or next). But I also think the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub has been playing its own role.

Bioré has always been a favorite for drugstore beauty – I adore their charcoal collection. So this immediately had my attention. The formula is powder-to-foam (perfect for travel) and works as a deep skin cleanser. The scrub activates with water and turns into a surprisingly luscious foam. It gives skin a solid clean without being harsh and exfoliating without over-scrubbing. Because it is a deeper cleaning, I try to limit use to 2-3 times per week.

Available at Target and Amazon.

Activated Charcoal – The Beauty Ingredient of the Moment

Activated Charcoal - The Beauty Ingredient of the Moment on Belle Belle Beauty

By now I am guessing you have had activated charcoal pop up on your radar. I have an affinity for this ingredient – likely because my childhood black Cocker Spaniel was affectionally named Char and that little cutie lived 17 years. But in addition, I love the way charcoal can absorb toxins and pollutants without leaving my dry and sensitive skin red or irritated.

My first beauty charcoal experience was likely in college with the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask – talk about a classic. This one is fairly straight-forward using White China clay to draw out impurities. But it is just as good as it ever was.

Recently on Belle Belle, I raved about Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud. It was too good not to mention on Saint Patrick’s Day but also worth a mention here. The inky, black mask works with organic materials like moor mud to clear skin but also hydrate. And the activated charcoal also capitalizes on magnetic ability to clear pores.

Bioré has a whole host of charcoal products right now, but given they do strips so well, my pick is the Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips. The nose strips might be better suited for those with serious blackheads. They somehow manage a fresh and clean feel with less shine. Charcoal also provides for oil control.

In true Belle Belle form, I saved the most luxe beauty pick for last. While it has taken a time for me to get used to the Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar, I get why this has been such a huge hit for decades. I admit to not following the whole “ritual” but I do love the cleansing action and the brightened complexion that follows a regular ole face wash. This one is something you’ll treasure on your vanity.

June Is Acne Awareness Month on FOX23’s Great Day Green Country

The Path To Clear Skin on Belle Belle Beauty

One of the most common skin concerns is acne and June happens to be Acne Awareness Month. Just under the wire, I am on FOX23’s Great Day Green Country tomorrow to share my picks for curing the dreaded clogged pores and pimples.

It is hard not to think about acne without bring up the premier acne fighting brand, Proactiv. The newest from the brand is X Out, a one-step Wash-In Treatment that infuses pores with bacteria fighting 8.5% benzoyl peroxide. Smooth beads exfoliate dead skin cells and a complex helps moisturize skin.

You regulars know that I am a huge fan of beauty from the inside out. New to Sephora, Hum Nutrition offers an array of supplements to fight all sorts of skin concerns. Daily Cleanse helps clear skin and the body from toxins. Detoxifying herbs and organic chlorella can help improve your complexion. And it is also gluten-free, contains no GMOs, and is sustainably sourced.

Bioré has long been a blemish fighting favorite brand. The newest trio has been a surprisingly awesome addition to my skin care routine. While I don’t have a ton of acne, these products have helped clear up my clogged pores on my nose that have plagued me since this spring. Bioré Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser is a refreshing and cooling salicylic acid acne treatment that clears skin of dirt and oil. Bioré Blemish Fighting Astringent also contains salicylic acid and tones and clears pores. Are you a scrub fan? Bioré Acne Clearing Scrub really goes after deep dirt and oil for the quickest fix. The minty citrus scrub is gentle enough to use every day and actually can be used to proactively prevent new blemishes.

One of my favorite super-powered skin care lines, SkinCeuticals, offers Blemish + Age Defense designed for those who might not be in the traditional acne prone teen years. By using 2% dioic acid with an alpha- and beta-hydroxy acid, it specifically targets and prevents adult acne. It can help with hyperpigmentation and fine lines as well.
