Kérastase Spécifique Bain Vital Dermo‑Calm

Kérastase Spécifique Bain Vital Dermo‑Calm on Belle Belle Beauty

It isn’t cute, but unfortunately it is common. I have dry and sometimes flaky scalp and it sucks. But thanks to my dermatologist, I got a diagnosis and medicated shampoo to treat it when it flares up. It works but, man, it smells gross. Enter Kérastase Spécifique Bain Vital Dermo‑Calm which is my new favorite way to treat flakiness.

I have been using it since last summer. I recently rotated in another shampoo and noticed the dryness creep back in, so I am once again loyal to Dermo-Calm. The shampoo is silicone free and doesn’t weigh down strands. It is packed with anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients to calm skin. Piroctone works to soothe itching. Lastly, menthol calms but without the medicinal fragrance. For those who share my scalp problems or just want a refreshing and weightless shampoo (that is color-safe), check out this gem!

Kerastase’s Discipline Collection

Kerastase’s Discipline Collection on Belle Belle Beauty

I had to gather the troops to get today’s post to you. In the interest of reviewing for a range of needs, sometimes I enlist “Team Belle Belle” to give products a whirl. While I have fine hair that is easily weighed-down, I knew my buddy M would have the perfect hair to try this trio out.

Kerastase’s Discipline Collection is designed to help manage unruly hair without the interference of harmful chemicals. The formula works by creating a hair fiber that is smooth but still swingy. M reports that her hair is “sooooo soft” and left her mane full of movement. One attribute that I can definitely corroborate is that the shampoo, conditioner and spray all smell wonderful. The best part: it was just as great or better on day 2. I’ll conclude with M’s finally takeaway: “it is a new favorite!”

Thanks for being my Guinea Pig, M!

Kérastase Couture Styling Range

Kérastase Couture Styling Range // Belle Belle Beauty

Ever since my salon visit at Jara Herron salon this past spring, I’ve been having a love affair with Kérastase products. Everything from their concentrated in-salon treatments to their at-home products perform beyond expectations. The luxurious scents and formulas make up a line that can address all hair types and concerns.

Kérastase newest launch is a line of styling products with innovative formulas for soft, touchable hold and protection. Off the bat, you’ll notice these products smell amazing. The formulas use micronized fixative polymers that wrap around hair for natural style memory with movement. Inspired by skincare, the finish products have lasting power without rigidity.

Kérastase Couture Styling Range // Belle Belle Beauty

The Construct and Finish collection has nine products. While I love them all, I decided to ask a true expect, Jara Herron herself, to tell us which are her favorites and how she uses them. Her selections:

  • Powder Bluff: multi-use dry shampoo that can be used on fine hair for extra texture and volume especially in between shampoos.

  • Spray À Porter: the best beach spray on the market without any stickiness and I love to spray on damp fine hair before blow dry style. Leaves the hair bouncy and voluminous with lasting hold. (editor’s note: this is my favorite from the line)

  • Boucles D’Art: a super light weight foam works great on all hair textures. Adds great volume with an airy light feel in the hair. Wonderful to define curls.

  • Touche Finale: a truly weightless shine serum, without any oily feel. I love to use it on frizzy unmanageable hair to polish and add luster and glow. I look at it as an instant anti-aging for hair.

And some of my thoughts: The Laque Dentelle and Couture are hair sprays that give touchable hold and a beautiful finish and offer both a flexible and medium hold respectively. Lift Vertige is one of the first products I’ve found that easily gives my fine hair natural looking lift at the roots. And I selected Spray a Porter as my favorite fall launch over on Makeup.com.

Kérastase products are available at Jara Herron or find your closest salon here.

Baci Di Sole at NYC’s De Berardinis Salon

Baci Di Sole at NYC's De Berardinis Salon // Belle Belle Beauty

Is there anything more glamorous than visiting a salon in NYC? I think not. Especially for this Oklahoma girl. So, while I was up in the big city for NYFW, I swung by De Berardinis Salon in Chelsea for one of their signature services, Baci Di Sole. Side note, I was also in serious need for a trim and they were kind enough to put their scissors to use.

I met with Adrian, the owner of De Berardinis Salon, to chat about the hair coloring service. Now, keep in mind I have never colored my hair. For some reason, being in NYC makes me braver. And I knew I was seeing more and more greys so I was going to have to bite the bullet at some point.

Adrian explained Baci Di Sole would be subtle highlights with a ombre effect. To learn the process, Adrian (who is quite the handsome fellow, ladies) visited a salon in Milan where the service was developed. Hair is teased and then color is painted on, so the effect is an imperfect, highly natural look. Perfect for a first-timer, no? The process never touched the scalp, which I appreciated  since I suffer from sensitive skin. Adrian used both Goldwell and Wella hair color.

For me, he chose a warm dark blond/light brown. I love the way it brightens my complexion. And it is truly subtle, but I can feel the way the texture and look of my hair has more depth. Color changes the way hair behaves and my fine hair loves the increased hold of color-treated hair.

I’ve been growing my hair out for years so I surprised myself when I let Adrian cut as he saw fit before the color treatment (he cut it dry since we were doing color processing). But it is a good thing. He cut about four inches of dead hair. Now my ends are healthy (and sun-kissed blond). Bottom line, I am tempted to fly back to NYC for my next cut and color. This guy is truly talented. My blowout was the perfect beachy wave. He used Kérastase’s newest styling line, Couture Styling – more on those products soon to come on Belle Belle. Oh, and De Berardinis Salon also had a great Blow Dry Bar!

Check out my instagrams here, here and here for the final result. I’m hooked and love to natural, sun-kissed look.

Kerastase’s Cristalliste Salon Visit and GIVEAWAY

Kerastase's Cristalliste Salon Visit // Belle Belle Beauty

A couple weeks ago, I was invited to experience Kerastase’s best-selling Cristalliste line, specifically designed for women with long hair. Could that be any more up my alley? So, I was off to a local salon here that carries the Kerastase line of hair products – a brand I was a fan of but hadn’t had too much of a chance to check out yet. As a note Tulsa folks, Jara Herron is a spot you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait to try out their spa and I was highly impressed with the salon.

I knew that this wasn’t going to be just any ordinary blow out, since I was experiencing one of the nicest salons in town and with a master stylist. After a great consultation with Shawna, we decided the best way to go “glam” was old Hollywood waves. I was excited to see what the Cristalliste line could do with my normally stubborn and straight hair.

Cristalliste-Before-and-After

But first up was the Fusio Dose treatment – which I can honestly say I never wanted to end. After shampooing, a custom treatment was applied to my hair with a massage and then combed through. The Cristalliste Hair Mask was also used for conditioning and to prep for styling.

Off the bat, I was enamored with the scent of the Cristalliste line – it was clean and not overly floral and feminine – just up my alley. As Shawna blew out my hair, I found it was silkier and shinier than I am used to. After that, while styling, Shawna used the Lumiere Liquide – a kind of shine serum. I was worried it would become stiff or weigh down my fine hair. But it definitely did neither. My hair was left weightless and full of bounce.

But the real treat was when the pinned curls were released to show a significant, bouncy wave in my otherwise straight hair. My hair smelled amazing and was styled in a way I frankly didn’t think was possible. The waves held up through a long night out. Now I can say Hollywood Glam really does work for me!
