Glossier Body Hero Duo

Glossier Body Hero Duo on Belle Belle Beauty

One of my favorite bloggers, Grace, posted about Glossier Body Hero Duo a couple weeks back and it prompted a long overdue shopping spree at Glossier for me. Not only did I pick up the body duo, but also some fan favorites that I can’t wait to share with you next week. But first up, the products that started it all – Daily Oil Wash and Daily Perfecting Cream.

I am all about a natural and glow-y look and that goes for the body as well. I haven’t gotten much sun this summer (taking a healthier approach to sun care), so a little glow is much needed. The body wash and cream are both really rich and hydrating which my body needs despite the humidity.

Daily Oil Wash is truly an oil so don’t expect a heavy lather, but rather froth. It washes skin without striping thanks to the seven oils in its formula. And leaves skin so soft.

Daily Body Cream melts into skin without leaving it sticky or feeling heavy. Light-reflecting particles disguise flaws while adding sheen.

The scent is the star here, transporting me back to childhood summer days at the beach. Orange Blossom Neroli Blend has a faint Coppertone hint that smells innocently fresh. The formula is paraben free, cruelty free and vegan.

Dry Winter Skin

This winter has been brutal on my skin. I have been constantly itchy and flaky and I am sitting here just praying for a warm spring rainstorm. I purchased humidifiers for my apartment and have the diffuser constantly running. I even have surrendered to sleeping at 65 degrees to avoid running the heat.

I was determined for some relief and I think I have found a duo that can fight the dry. First, I brought out my trusty Salux Nylon Japanese Beauty Skin Bath Cloth – super strange but it works so well. It is this really long (35 inches), rough, thin towel that suds up like a dream. It is softer than a loofah, but still textured for exfoliating entire body. Perfect for reaching my neck and back too. I use it with Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower And Bath Gel but am on the prowl for a more moisturizing body wash – let me know if you have suggestions!

The real kicker is a find by Dad – he discovered it at his favorite hunting ground, Wal-Mart (lol). Gold Bond Medicated Body Lotion Extra Strength is my new favorite thing. The smell is insanely refreshing thanks to menthol which fights itch. Dimethicone is a skin protectant and aloe soothes. Emulsifying wax makes this thick and nourishing, but somehow it melts into skin without being sticky.

It is still a constant battle, but thanks to these (affordable) gems, I am finally feeling better. Take that, Winter!

Vita Liberata Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion with Marula Oil

Vita Liberata Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion with Marula Oil on Belle Belle Beauty

I know we are entering the shorter days of summer. But if you are like me, this is my favorite time of summer to plan parties and trips. They are somewhat sweeter when they come savored late. Plus, things are less crowded now that school is firing up. So forgive me if I am daydreaming about a voyage to the beach. I am headed to Southern California in a couple weeks and cannot wait. To get help with a glow, I turn to Vita Liberata and their Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion with Marula Oil is my new favorite formula.

This self-tanner acts just like a moisturizer and would be great for dry and sensitive skin. The texture is light-weight but packs a hydration punch. The subtle glow can be built deeper with repeated applications. I can detect no scent at all thanks to the company’s Odour Remove™ technology. I like to exfoliate first but I would not say it is mandatory. I get the most even application using the tan mitt and highly recommend splurging for one. Wait to shower for eight hours after application.

Available at Sephora and Nordstrom.

Wednesday On The Web

Napa Valley Wine Country on Belle Belle Beauty

I am getting back settled in the swing of things after an amazing weekend in Napa. There were so many special moments in a place that is always my favorite to visit. I saw an old friend who I hadn’t seen for almost 10 years. I visited a winery with a special VIP and got to see the importance of family and roots in making wine. I spent time with my dearest friends in their fabulous spot nestled in Napa Valley. And managed to sneak in 30,000 FitBit steps in 48 hours. I call that a win. I didn’t have much downtime, but did have some finds from around the web that you might enjoy:

I can’t wait to try this new-to-me moisturizer from Mario Badescu.

Love Dax and Kristin’s Africa video – I think I’ll join them on their next trip!

My Denver Broncos are practicing at Stanford Stadium in anticipation for Super Bowl 50 – worlds collide – GO BRONCOS!

Love seeing these French phrases in English words. #languagenerd

Mountain Ocean Skin Trip Moisturizer

Mountain Ocean Skin Trip Moisturizer on Belle Belle Beauty

This week is nuts! I think the moment school starts again, the whole world speeds up a little bit. So apologies for the quick post. Just wanted to share my favorite late-summer body lotion with you today. If you’re like me, you didn’t have a chance to get to a beach this summer. But Mountain Ocean Skin Trip Moisturizer will (kinda) get you there.

The formula is powered with coconut oil and aloe vera – something I always associate with childhood days in the sand. But you don’t get any of that greasy feeling like when using pure coconut oil. The lotion is super fast absorbing but still manages to pack a moisture punch. The scent is subtle enough that you don’t smell like Spring Break at work – but more like a breath of fresh, tropical air.

Available at Amazon.

Summer Legs

Summer Legs on Belle Belle Beauty
Summer clothes are far from my favorite. Regular readers will know that I love layers and cozy fabrics of fall best. But one thing I do welcome is retiring my black tights and baring my legs when the summer arrives. But that also comes with the issue of dry and pasty skin. To remedy that, I am sharing ome of my favorite items that have been on rotation the last month or so here:

Kate Somerville Somerville360° Tanning Towelettes – Hands down, the best self-tanner out there. The cloths are so easy to use (and travel with). I just wipe on my legs quickly when the towelette is fresh and then buff on the color over a minute or so each leg to ensure everything is even. The color is natural and says put for a week. Plus, it doesn’t mess up sheets or clothes and has a relatively pleasant scent.

Miracle Skin Transformer Tinted Body Lotion – Sometimes a faux tan can only take you so far. If you want to up your game, try a tinted lotion like this one. The ingredients help firm skin, including caffeine that works against cellulite. And the shimmer is more subtle than “over-the-top”.

mark. Naked Love Body Butter – My tans tend to last longer when I moisturize my skin at night. Since I prefer something without a tint and slightly richer in the PM, I reach for body butters. The newest from mark smells like a summer dream: apricot nectar, white peaches, velvet freesia and skin musk. It is perfectly rich but still melts into skin.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian, Kukui Nut Body Oil – You can’t beat the shower as a great time to hydrate. I like using oils right at the end of the shower to “seal” in moisture. My recent oil smells like a Hawaiian vacation – and as close as I will get to a Hula for the foreseeable future. Vegetarian and cruelty-free.

note: Honorable mention for PrttyPeaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion in Medium which is vegan, natural and gluten-free. It has slightly more shimmer than the Miracle Skin and can be used on the face and hair.
